Now, how to
start to describe this marvelous piece of art? I have so much to say yet am
also left entirely speechless at the same time. I have cried helplessly,
laughed heartily, loved dearly and hated utterly during this read. I have never
experienced something quite like this before. At times, I had to stop reading
to calm myself, that's how real it felt to me.
These
characters... they will hold a place in my heart eternally and I am glad for
it. Knowing this adventure is far from over, I feel rather ecstatic. It's safe
to say that I have never read anything as astonishing as this before, so I have
absolutely no doubt when saying that this is in fact, one of the best books
I've ever read.
There is
honestly nothing that I didn’t enjoy. Because of this book I am obsessed with Scotland.
The culture, the country, the language, the music, the history, ... I am
actually planning on going there in the near future! I have to see Scotland's
allure for myself.
I’ve learned
a great deal about Scotland during the 18th century. Being a History
student at college, that’s definitely a marvelous thing. I’ve read so many
people complaining about the way women are treated within this novel. I believe
that Gabaldon did the best thing she could when writing these bits. It’s
crucial to comprehend that back in the 18th century, women were
treated poorly. Sadly, it was the norm back then. It wouldn’t have been
historically correct if she left these bits out when describing married life
during that time.
I’d recommend
this book to anyone who enjoys reading historical fiction, time travel and
romance.
